download of this software.IMPORTANTAn ERW-7 (USB port) or ERW-4C (Serial port) PC connection cable is necessary to use programs. Additional accessories may be required depending on the software.DownloadPlease download the Zip file from the link below. Unzip it and put the installer file to a directory of your preference.The utility softwareInstallation and UninstallationPlease uninstall older versions through Add / Remove Programs in Windows Control Panel BEFORE installing the new version. Click the installation file and follow the instruction. A short-cut icon will be displayed on the desktop after the installation is completed.Please be sure to install driver software of ERW-7 before start using it. (ERW-4C doesn't require the driver software) Please check Windows system menu>device manager to make sure the port assignment of the cable. [Port (COM and LPT)>USB Serial Port (COM*)] The most common causes of troubles are COM-PORT setting related or missing the installation of the driver-software. If error occurs during the operation, just turn off the radio, perform a reset (p.101 on the manual) and retry. The com-error of cloning/SDR software won't cause hardware troubles to the radio. Sorry, please do not contact us asking how to install or use the program, as the interface is very simple. The updates will be posted here as soon as available. PreparationsERW-7Connect the mini-plug to the SP jack on the front panel (or the CLONE jack on the rear panel in case of the DX-R8) and an USB connector to the USB port on your PC. Press and hold MODE key while turning on to enter to the clone mode. "CLONE" will be displayed on the screen. Click on the short-cut icon of the program. The program window will pop up, then select the COM port assignment in the tool-bar > COM-port menu. ERW-4C Turn off your PC. Please be sure to read the instruction included in the downloaded folder. Please do not install this program if you don't agree with the terms of use.Please visit here for the details and downloads of KG-SDR. A commercially available 3.5mm stereo mini-plug audio cable is required. An external USB soundcard may be required in case you use a notebook PC that is not equipped with a Line-In port. You can't obtain the best of performance with slower PCs or low-spec soundcards. Preparations and operations]Just follow the instructions of included manual. You don't need to enter to the CLONE mode but you must select the IQ output mode.The firmware updateDetails of this DX-SR8 firmware updateCTCSS encoding tones can be program individually in memory channels. The clone utility should be updated to version 1.20 to use this function.For US T-Version, 60m band plan has been reviewed to update. This firmware is NOT version-sensitive and can be applied to any version of DX-SR8. To verify if the update is necessaryTurn off your DX-SR8T. Turn on with RIT key pressed to show the current firmware version code on the display. Remember the code. If it is 1.08, If the number is 1.20 or higher, it is already the most updated and this operation is not necessary.To install and uninstallPlease uninstall older version(s) of the update.exe file eventually through Add / Remove Programs in Windows Control Panel BEFORE installing the new version. FTDI driver is supported by this service. In this case you don?ft have to worry about the driver installation, just let the OS selects a correct driver for you. Sorry, please do not contact us asking how to install or use the program, as it is very simple. Never remove the cable or power off the radio/PC during the operation. Failure will result in sending the radio to our service facility for recovery. Thank you. OperationClick on the Windows' program list to choose "DX-SR8 software writer". A simple interface appears. Select the COM port number at the pull-down box that ERW-7 has been assigned to.Select your current firmware version and press [Write Ver 01.12] button to start. When it's been finished, turn off the radio, remove the cable and turn it on with RIT key pressed. Observe that the firmware version is now 01.12. Turn off again, then turn on with FUNC key pressed to reset. Now the update is completed and ready to use the radio. This is an one-time program so it is recommended that you delete the downloaded zip file and the installed program from your PC. If you make mistake on selecting the current firmware version, the program simply indicates error message and doesn't perform the update.
