DR-138/438 Free Utility Software Download

Please be advised that this is a freeware (copyright reserved by Alinco, Inc), but an optional ERW-7 cable is necessary for operations. Although we have tested this software on our Windows7/10 environments and haven't experienced any serious accident during the operation, we are not responsible of any eventual damage caused to your radio and/or PC system by using this utility. Sorry, please do not contact us for how to use the software, as this is a very simple editor software. The updates will be posted here when available. Please uninstall the older version before you install the latest one in case of update. This software enables you to program frequencies, set parameters and save it in your PC for amateur radio version of DR-138/438. Other land mobile versions can be programmed only by using the dealer programming app. Please consult your dealer for the availability as we don't disclose it to consumers direct

Interface

An optional ERW-7 PC connection cable is required. Connect it between an USB port of your PC and the external speaker port on the back of the radio. Before start using ERW-7, be sure to install a VCP driver software available from http://www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/VCP.htm

Installation & Operations

  • Start the utility program DRx38 CloneUtility_1.00.exe to install. Click the DR_X38_1.00 icon to operate the app.
  • In Set menu, select the assigned com port number.
  • Select "Read from radio" in Program menu in the tool bar and click it. If connection is successful, a progress bar appears and shows the reading state. At the end "Read data completed" is shown.
  • Operation is simple enough. Click on the list or check boxes to program the data to be transferred to the radio.
  • After being programmed, select "Write to the radio" in the Program menu and click it.
  • Details of parameters are well-explained in the instruction manual of the radio. The programmable frequencies are hardware dependent; it receives and transmits in the frequencies according to the radio's specification.
  • To save/recall edited data, use the [File] menu on the tool bar.
  • Use Windows menu to delete and uninstall the app.
